About me

I am Alessia Patuelli, a freelance university lecturer and researcher based in the Netherlands.

At SRH Haarlem University of Applied Sciences, I teach in the Applied Sustainability Management Master’s. I am responsible for the Applied Research component within the Sustainability: The Basics and I teach the Sustainable Business and Governance module. I hold a PhD in Business Administration and Management and have international teaching experience across Italian, British, and Dutch universities. I am certified with the Basis Kwalificatie Onderwijs (the Dutch university teaching qualification) and hold the Italian National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in Business Administration. My research focuses on sustainability in organisations, with particular attention to family businesses and SMEs. I study how organisations engage with sustainability, manage climate-related risks, and how local embeddedness and territorial identity shape sustainability practices. My work combines qualitative and mixed methods and includes interdisciplinary collaborations integrating data science and AI-based approaches to the analysis of organisational communication.

Alongside my role at SRH, I run Pharus Learning, an independent education practice through which I design and deliver tailored courses, workshops, and short programmes for universities, PhD programmes, entrepreneurs, and family businesses across Europe.
